New friends and SPACE

I had a good time in Columbus at the SPACE comicon. Brian Babendererde was a great table-mate and as well as a cool travel companion. 12-14 hours in car, you figure that out. He’s inspired me to come up with a print to sell along with my books.
We met up with some great comics people:
I picked up some minicomics by Ben T. Steckler
I wish I could have bought more from members of the DC conspiracy. My girls especially liked Mr. Big by Matt Dembicki, but I’ve got stuff by Evan Keeling as well. We hung out with John Coswell, Tim Fischer (Columbus resident) and Brian Idon’thavehislastnamehandy. Interesting conversation – there’s some good mini comics to be produced: Salt Chaser Betty, Carny Tales and, well, I’ll skip the last subject.
Our closest table neighbors put up with my sales technique all weekend – Steve Kanaras of Free Lunch Comics.
The panel I did on Saturday was pretty well attended – I spoke about contracts and money when applying to prose publishers. Good feedback from the audience so I think gave good content.
There was more – Brian and I were interviewed by a college student named Rachel for a podcast – hopefully I’ll find out about that soon. I have the link somewhere, but it’s packed away.
All in all, I would recommend the SPACE comicon to anyone. Great show to be at, even if it is held on the first really nice day of the year. ;)
