It’s been a pretty good con – very well attended and sales have been good. Lot’s of people have been pleasantly surprised at the turnout and feel this con has the potential to turn into a real Indy-friendly event.
And I have to say – kudos to the Wizard World staff. Friendly, helpful and a [...]

Something old, something new for Wizard World
August 19th, 2010 · No Comments
And it’s the same thing: I have what we believe to be the last two boxes of the Twilight Tales editon of Something to build upon.
I’ll be selling there in Artist’s Alley all weekend, at table 3102, so stop by. And definitely visit the Jordan’s at Crimespree’s booth.
In other news, summer has been great and [...]

Am i on hiatus?
June 1st, 2010 · No Comments
I guess so, but it sure doesn’t feel that way. On the plus side, this gave me some time to figure out another plot twist, so it’s all good.
I’ll be at Printer’s Row with a host of great writers in a few weeks.
And I might have some great news about “Something to build upon” [...]

Still grinding through
May 16th, 2010 · No Comments
Yep, I’m still grinding through other things rather than cartooning. Just got done with ACEN, the anime con, and I have to admit it was pretty good.
I’m still working on some website work for other people, but I also have to help organize the MWA tent for Printers Row.
That brings us into mid-June before I [...]

Creepy guys, revisited
February 21st, 2010 · No Comments
Well, the Christopher Handley case was resolved recently, he got a six-month sentence plus a mess of probation.
As I’ve said before, I don’t think a person should be prosecuted just for being creepy. But it seems, according to one report, Handley was dealing with material that current law could judge as obscene:
The offending material [...]

Writers and artists make things up. If we’re lucky, we make things up that people like and want.
Rick Riordin made up a pretty good character called Percy Jackson and a world where the Olympians still ruled.
The books did amazingly well – I do recommend them. The movie, not so much.
Even with my very limited experience [...]

I am Joe Biden
December 29th, 2009 · 2 Comments
Well, not exactly. But I am now a Vice President. Sure, it’s only for the Midwest Chapter of the Mystery Writers of America, but that’s still pretty cool (I was the only candidate, and they had blackmail information to make me run BUT STILL…)
In addition to the web duties, I’ll be working on scheduling meetings [...]

A visit to Green Brain Comics
December 26th, 2009 · No Comments
When I’m in the Detroit area, I like to visit Green Brain comics in Dearborn.
It’s a nice, clean shop and my daughters are usually able to find things for all ages.
This time we had two of their cousins with us – a boy and girl who had never been to a shop before.
For him, [...]

Windows grrrrrrr
November 24th, 2009 · No Comments
I’ve been wrangling a problem with another site I manage – four days of tech support hell has kept me from updating my own cartoon.
Seems the problem is an obscure setting in php.ini file that disrupts Wordpress. And it only happens on windows servers. So I’m cancelling the account and moving to a linux server [...]
